In memoriam: Ray Taylor
January 2024
It is with great sadness that we had to bid farewell to one of our long standing committee members, Ray Taylor, who has has passed away. Ray died peacefully in hospital in January 2024.
Ray joined HERAS several years ago and until recently was a Committee Member with responsibilty for Health and Safety. Ray was a very loyal member and did a lot of work for HERAS in the behind the scenes as well as giving lectures on his favourite topic of tracking meteor showers with motion activated cameras set up around his garden. He was a member of the Nematode meteor watching society and his 24/7 cameras added to a cross Europe database used to triangulate positions, speeds, and orbits of the meteors.
Ray had been suffering from ill health in recent years and despite his best efforts was no longer able to attend our monthly meetings, in recent times.
Our thoughts and sympathy are with his wife Sharon and his family and friends.
Ray was an active member of Nematode as mentioned. Here are a couple of links to information about Nematode itself and about Ray (copy and paste the links)
