In memoriam: George King
December 2023
It is with great sadness that we said goodbye to our long-standing member George King, who passed away in December 2023. George was the Chair and a founder member of our sister society Brough Astronomy (Blackburn Leisure Astronomy Society, or BLAS). He was a driving force behind the development of the BLAS observatory, often referred to as George’s shed but known as his sanctuary! He was delighted to see it used to promote interest in astronomy to the thousands of visitors that passed through its doors.
Rest in peace, George. Your sanctuary will continue to inspire all those who walk through its doors with open minds and questions.
