Telescope
A basic telescope suitable for beginners has been donated to HERAS. It has been servic
ed and will be available for loan to members soon.
The telescope (pictured) is a 114mm Newtonian Reflector with a red-dot finder.
It is on an equatorial mount, with slow-motion controls to help track the objects you are viewing. Note that this is not a ‘goto’ computerised/motorised mount.
While an equatorial mount isn’t the simplest to operate, it quickly gets easy with practice and is a good means to get a feel for the night sky!
